The chiropractic initial exam is the first step in receiving chiropractic care. It is a comprehensive evaluation of your musculoskeletal system, overall health, and lifestyle to determine if chiropractic care is right for you. What happens during an initial exam? The initial exam typically takes about 30-60 minutes and consists of the following: Medical History Review: I will review your medical history, including any past or present health conditions, injuries, surgeries, and medications you are taking. Physical Examination: A thorough physical examination to assess your constitutional health, musculoskeletal health and neurological health. Neurological Examination: A series of neurological tests to assess your nerve function will be performed. This may include checking your reflexes, sensation, and coordination. X-rays or Other Imaging: In some cases, we may order X-rays or other imaging studies to get a more detailed view of your area of injury. What to expect after an initial exam? After the initial exam, I will discuss your diagnosis and treatment plan with you. The treatment plan may include chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, exercises, and lifestyle modifications.
