DRY NEEDLING
For patients seeking a dry-needling session only.
Service Description
Dry needling is a therapeutic technique that involves inserting thin, monofilament needles into the skin and muscles. Unlike traditional acupuncture, which is based on Chinese medicine and involves specific points on the body, dry needling focuses on treating trigger points, which are tender, hyperirritable nodules in muscles. How does it work? When a trigger point is stimulated, it can cause pain, muscle tension, and restricted movement. Dry needling is thought to work by: Releasing muscle tension: The needle insertion helps to relax the muscle fibers and reduce muscle tension. Improving blood flow: The needle insertion can increase blood flow to the area, which helps to promote healing. Stimulating the nervous system: The needle insertion can stimulate the release of endorphins, which are the body's natural pain relievers. What conditions can dry needling treat? Dry needling can be used to treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including: Pain: Dry needling can be effective for relieving pain from a variety of sources, including muscle pain, back pain, neck pain, and headaches. Muscle tension: Dry needling can help to relax tight muscles and improve range of motion. Trigger points: Dry needling is a very effective treatment for trigger points. Dry needling of a maximum of 2 body regions with electrostimulation if necessary will be provided per session.
